Understanding your cat

Some cat behaviors are unmistakable: An arched back and hissing means the cat doesn't want to be messed with. A twitching tail (short, quick movements) and pricked ears demonstrates your cat is extremely interested in something. Sometimes our cats' behavior may be puzzling. Here are a few ideas to help us communicate better with our cats.Q: Why does my cat rub herself against my legs or knead me with her paws? A: Leg rubbing is a way for cats to mark the household, including their owners, with pheromones produced by glands in their faces. Even though we think cats are anti-social, they find comfort in the "group odor." Cats might also rub because it often leads to being petted. Behaviorists aren't quite sure why cats knead, but it's obviously a comforting behavior.Q: What else can my cat's tail tell me? .

Another Positive Aspect of Giving Up TV (and More Stuff)

It's not just giving up television, but giving up the three medias I've chosen that has provided me with a second positive outcome of this experiment. Of course, my primary goal was to see if not watching television, movies, or reading magazines helped give me a more positive outlook on my personal body image, rather than relying on the media to tell me what I should look like. While this is going well, I've also noticed that I'm less moved to buy things. Instead of seeing clothing or products I like in the three medias and going out and buying them, if not something similar, I'm just not exposed to these things. So I have more money in my pocket because I'm not convinced that I need things that I don't! It's incredibly beautiful.

On a completely different note, I'm taking another feminist course.

Toyota Unleashes All-New 2008 Scion xB

It was the car that put "box" in "econobox" and now it has received a mild facelift. The 2008 Scion xB still has the same square proportions as its predecessor, but it appears to have moved ever so slightly upscale. By some accounts, it looks like a shoebox on wheels, and perhaps that is a large part of its appeal. After all, what shape is more efficient in terms of cargo space than that of a square. The Scion xB "urban ulitity vehicle", as that moniker suggests, was never meant to tackle the rugged outdoors. Instead, it is supposed to be infinitely useful for us city-dwellers driving on those paved roads. The new xB is larger, responding to requests from customers for a "bigger box." Even so, it has "soft angles", "elongated headlamps", and "pronounced fenders." The single backup light on the left bumper is an interesting touch.
